Thai black tea is an old and favorite drink of the inhabitants of this country. Tea has an interesting, very unusual, pleasant taste of milk caramel, it does not look like ordinary tea. Thai black tea can be drunk hot, traditionally adding sugar or honey, or it can be prepared the way the inhabitants of the Kingdom of Thailand love it – with milk and ice. In any case, this drink will delight you – it tastes wonderfully hot and cold, with or without milk.

The brewed tea has a bright chocolate-orange color. If milk is added to the drink, the tea acquires a saffron hue, and its taste becomes even softer and milky.

Thai tea, also known as Thai iced tea or “Cha-yen” (in Thai), is a strongly brewed black tea with anise, various spices, sweetened with sugar and condensed or whole milk, and chilled with ice.

Milk is added to tea just before consumption. In Thailand, this tea is served in a traditional tall glass; in the heat, this iced tea is good for refreshing.

Thai Iced Black Tea:

• 2 tbsp. l. Thai black tea, 2 tbsp. l. condensed milk (or sugar 2 tbsp), 2 tbsp. l. concentrated milk without sugar or cream; and 2 glasses of water.
• Pour tea into a kettle. Pour boiling water over, cover, leave for 5 minutes. Then gently strain the tea into cups.
• Add condensed milk or sugar, stir. Cool the tea to room temperature or chill in the refrigerator.
• While the tea is cooling, chill tall glass goblets. Put crushed ice in glasses, pour tea. Add concentrated milk or cream and serve immediately with straws. This is delicious!

Thai hot black tea:

• 3 teaspoons of dry mixture of Thai tea pour 500 ml of boiling water.
• Leave for 5 minutes, strain, add sugar or honey to taste.
